A targeted review of bio-derived plasticizers with flame retardant
In another example of cardanol-based plasticizer, cardanol is reacted with a cyclic phosphoryl chloride (2-chloro-2,-oxy-5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane), and the resulting phosphate epoxy with a cardanol group is used “as is” for a plasticizer with no further epoxidation of the cardanol alkene groups (Fig. 5b) .

Mode II fracture characterization of toughened epoxy resin composites
Epoxy resin used commonly as a matrix for polymer composite materials has good handling properties, but is too brittle. That is why various modifiers are used to increase the flexibility of products based on epoxy resin. This leads to two issues: how to efficiently increase the toughness of the resin without impacting significantly other properties, as well as how to measure the toughness in

EPOXY RESINS are used extensively for protective coatings and in paints and adhesives; the consumption of epoxy resins during 1973 was 190,000 metric tons, which is an almost twofold

Highly sensitizing are some additives of polyvinyl resins (phthalates, maleates, benzophenones, epoxy resins, glyoxal, etc.) which can induce occupational allergic contact dermatitis, asthma, and allergic rhinitis in the personnel exposed to the polymerization process (Schulsinger and Mllgaard 1980; Vidovic and Kansky 1985 ).

- Are epoxy hardeners allergic to diluents?
- Concomitant sensitization to both hardeners and epoxy resins is relatively common, but isolated contact allergy to epoxy hardeners is quite rare. Simultaneous reactions are always due to concomitant exposure as hardeners are chemically distinct from epoxy resins and reactive diluents and cross-allergy does not exist between the two groups.
- Can cycloaliphatic epoxy resin cause allergic contact dermatitis?
- Diglycidyl ester of hexahydrophthalic acid (cycloaliphatic epoxy resin) is a rare sensitizer in epoxy systems , but few cases of allergic contact dermatitis have been reported, when this chemical has been added to metal working fluids and neat oils. Diluents with several epoxy groups can be used as resins in some epoxy systems.
- What are the most important epoxy allergens?
- The most important allergens in epoxy systems, epoxy resins, reactive diluents, and hardeners are described in detail below. In safety data sheets, chemical names of epoxy allergens may vary, and they are best identified by their CAS numbers (Table 2). Table 2 Recommendation of epoxy chemicals for patch testing
- Can Pu resin hardeners cause allergic contact dermatitis?
- The typical location of isocyanate-induced allergic contact dermatitis is hands and face. Direct skin contact while handling uncured isocyanate-containing PU resin hardeners is probably the exposure that leads to skin sensitization. Completely hardened polyurethane products usually do not cause skin problems.
