Declaration of Performance and CE marking
The Declaration of Performance is a key part of the Construction Products Regulation. It provides information on the performance of a product. Each construction product covered by a European harmonised standard or for which a European Technical Assessment has been issued needs this Declaration and has to be CE marked.

- What is a declaration of Performance (DoP) and a CE-marking?
- 202118. 12. 2019 The procedures leading to a Declaration of Performance (DoP) and a CE-marking are described in Construction Product Regulation 305/2011 (CPR). The first precondition for starting the procedure is that the construction product in question falls under the scope of CPR.
- What is a declaration of performance?
- It provides information on a construction product’s performance relative to its essential characteristics, such as those set by applicable standards. Manufacturers should issue the Declaration of Performance when their product is either covered by a harmonised standard or conforms to a European Technical Assessment.
- What is a DOP & how does it work?
- The DoP gives the manufacturer the opportunity to deliver the information about the essential characteristics of his product he wants to deliver to the market. The manufacturer shall draw up a Declaration of Performance when a product covered by a harmonised standard (hEN) or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) is placed on the market.
- Do manufacturers have to provide a declaration of performance?
- Since then manufacturers of CE marked products have to provide a declaration of performance when placing products on the market. Distributors which make the products available on the market have to provide a copy of the respective declaration of performance and ensure the products bear the required marking. What applies in future?
- What is the GB DOP & EU DOP?
- We now have the EU DoP relating to CE marked products for sale in Europe and those countries who are CEN members*. Northern Ireland is included in this group. The GB DoP is for UKCA marked products sold in England, Scotland and Wales and all countries not included in the above group.
- How many manufacturers are using dopcap?
- More than 150 manufacturers with more than 175 production sites have already registered and decided to use DOPCAP. Until the end of the year approx.. 20.000 declarations of performance as well as 4.000 to 6.000 additional documents, such as safety data sheets will be available.
