Recycling of waste PET: Usage as secondary plasticizer for PVC
The recycling of waste PET can be primary (Pre-Consumer Industrial Scrap), secondary (Mechanical Recycling), tertiary (Chemical Recycling) and quaternary level (Energy Recovery) [7]....
Recycling of Waste PET: Usage as Secondary Plasticizer for PVC
The results show that the polyester products obtained from glycolysis products of waste PET can be used as secondary plasticizers, with DOP for PVC. Keywords: PET glycolysis polyester recycling PVC plasticizer ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This study was supported by Research Found of The University of stanbul. Project number: T-94111112002.
Recycling of Waste PET: Usage as Secondary Plasticizer for PVC
In order to obtain PVC plastisols, PVC was dispersed into a plasticizers' mixture composed of di-isooctyl phthalate (DOP) and polyester products by using a high-speed mixer (PVC/plasticizers, 65/35 w/w). For the preparation of plasticizer mixture polyester products were used at a weight ratio of 20%, 40%, 60% of DOP.
Polyester plasticizers for PVC - ResearchGate
When used in tyre filling compounds, the present plasticizers imparted a favorable frost, transverse dielectric, and chemical (to gasoline and oils) resistance, as compared with a well-known...
Preparation and testing of a solid secondary plasticizer
The obtained materials were characterized through the main methods used to assess flexible PVC compounds: hardness in Shore A scale, thermal properties and quantitative migration of the plasticizer. The solid secondary plasticizer obtained from post-consumer PET improves both the processing characteristics and the thermal stability of the final
- Can PVC waste be recycled?
- In theory, PVC waste can be treated by primary recycling, also called closed-loop recycling. However, many problems may occur, such as selective collection and manual sorting (Ignatyev et al., 2014). Secondary mechanical recycling requires sorting the PVC waste, decreasing the waste size, and extrusion (Schyns and Shaver, 2021).
- What are the recent developments in the chemical recycling technologies of PVC?
- Recent progress in the chemical recycling technologies of PVC is summarized. The dechlorination principles of different technologies are explained. Chemical recycling treatments of PVC-containing plastic waste are summarized. The extensive production and consumption of plastics has resulted in significant plastic waste and plastic pollution.
- Can chemical recycling improve recycling efficiency for PVC & PVC-containing plastic waste?
- This review summarized the most recent progress in chemical recycling technologies for PVC waste and PVC-containing plastic waste to improve recycling efficiency and reduce environmental pollution. The dechlorination principles of the chemical treatments were discussed.
- How is PVC waste managed in China?
- The management of PVC waste in China includes landfills, incineration, and recycling (Zhao et al., 2022). The proportions of PVC waste placed in landfills, incinerated, and mechanically and chemically recycled are respectively 36.0%, 9.3%, 25.5%, and 0.8% (Liu et al., 2020). However, there is limited landfill space, and the resource waste is high.
- Can PVC resin be recycled?
- Primary mechanical recycling uses unpolluted discarded PVC resin to create new products. In theory, PVC waste can be treated by primary recycling, also called closed-loop recycling. However, many problems may occur, such as selective collection and manual sorting (Ignatyev et al., 2014).
- Which chemical treatment is used for recycling PVC waste?
- Gasification Gasification is another chemical treatment for recycling PVC waste under an atmosphere of air/O 2 and steam. Gasification produces energy, energy carriers such as syngas (e.g., H 2, CO), and other chemicals (Lopez et al., 2018, Sansaniwal et al., 2017, Richardson et al., 2015, Abdoulmoumine et al., 2015).
