Simultaneous recovery of high-purity copper and polyvinyl
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has become an indispensable resin because of its high chemical and physical stability. Compared with other resins, PVC consists of a high percentage of Cl (57 wt%), which allows its combination with a wide variety of additives such as plasticizers, stabilizers, flame retardants, and fillers.
Simultaneous recovery of high-purity copper and polyvinyl
PVC coverings typically contain plasticizers for flexibility. As such, PVC cables become brittle after plasticizer extraction, causing them to be easily crushed by physical impact. Hence, we extracted the plasticizers from the PVC coverings of electric cables using organic solvents, and then crushed the obtained cable samples by ball milling.
Tygon tubing
Tygon 2275 High Purity Tubing is a plasticizer-free material that is often used in sterile filling and dispensing systems and diagnostic equipment. This formulation is also considered to have low absorption / adsorption properties, which minimizes the risk of fluid alteration.
What is DEHP? Where is it used? Why is it used? | U.S. Plastic
Plasticizers are essential to make PVC flexible. PVC is naturally rigid, but plasticizers are added to make the tubing flexible and expandable while retaining its shape. DEHP is widely used because it is low cost, processes well, and has provided good end-use performance.
Eastman introduces high-purity non-phthalate plasticizer
High-product purity is defined as: Low di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), Low 2-EH, and Specified limit for trace heavy metals, including RoHSand EN71-3. The European Union is phasing out use of DEHP under its Registration, Evaluation, Authorization & Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH) program. DEHP is already banned for use in toys.
- What are the new plasticizers?
- These new forms of plasticizers offer new dimensions of plasticizer selection that provide additional functionality, such as electric conductivity by ionic liquids, to bio-based plastics. Some of these new plasticizers also provide high safety for use even in edible food packaging applications.
- What is a reactive plasticizer?
- Learn more. This review is about the reactive plasticizer. Plasticizers are small molecules with low molecular weight. These compounds typically have an esteric structure. The plasticizers reduce the glass transition temperature, and the viscosity of the polymer also enhances the flexibility and processability of polymer materials.
- How can plasticizers reduce migration?
- Various strategies, such as increasing molecular weight of plasticizer, selection of oligomeric structure for plasticizer, and adding nanoparticles of minerals, have been investigated to reduce and eliminate migration. An approach that has recently been of great interest to researchers is the use of reactive plasticizers.
- What is an example of a new plasticizer's functionality?
- These new forms of plasticizers offer new dimensions of plasticizer selection that provide additional functionality such as electric conductivity by ionic liquids to the bio-based plastics and some of the others provide high safety to be used even in edible food packaging applications.
- What are plasticizers used for in synthetic plastics?
- Plasticizers have long been known for their effectiveness in enhancing the flexibility of synthetic plastics such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and epoxy resins. New types of plasticizers compatible with bio-based plastics are being developed.
- What makes a good plasticizer?
- A good plasticizer should significantly lower the glass transition temperature (Tg), be biodegradable, nonvolatile, and nontoxic. It should also exhibit minimal leaching or migration during use or aging.
