Adipate plasticizers | ExxonMobil Product Solutions
Jayflex adipate plasticizers can be used as a primary plasticizer but, more typically, are used in blends with general-purpose phthalates to improve low-temperature properties. They are effective for extremely low-temperature applications, for resistance to UV light and for food contact applications. Product selector Contact us Benefits

Dialkyl Succinates and Adipates as Alternative Plasticizers
This work presents a synthetic method for alternative plasticizers (dialkyl succinates and adipates) via esterification of succinic and adipic acid with alcohols: butan-1-ol and 2-ethylhexan-1-ol. Ionic liquids were synthesized by the reaction of triethylamine with over-equimolar (1:2.7) amounts of sulfuric(VI) acid, which were used as an acidic catalyst and solvent.
Adipates by Condensia Química
Adipates. Adipates offer high flash point and resistance to oxidation thus improving hydrolytic stability and volatility. They are rapidly incorporated into the polymer matrix and can be mixed with polymeric plasticizers improving the working time. Gaskets, footwear, cables, technical articles, toys, surfaces, canvas, films. Food contact approved.
- Why are Adipates used as PVC plasticizers?
- Adipic acid esters are widely used as PVC plasticizers due to their good performance at low temperatures and their lower viscosity than phthalate plasticizers. The most frequently used adipates have chain lengths up to C10, with longer chains becoming physicochemically incompatible with many polymers .
- Why are adipate plasticizers better than phthalates?
- The group of adipate plasticizers is characterized by a significant improvement in the flexibility of the material at low temperatures, which is due to the linear structure of the molecule and results in a lower viscosity of adipates as compared to phthalates and other plasticizers [11,12].
- What is the best plasticizer for phthalate esters?
- Dialkyl succinates with longer alkyl chains, e.g., DOS, are the most effective plasticizers with similar or even better plasticizing properties than phthalate esters, having a high compatibility with the polymers that allows a high plasticization efficiency.
- Are PVC adipate plasticizers safe?
- Non-toxic, bio- degradable PVC adipate plasticizer s are a safe alternative. Ecotoxicity studies o f the in- dustrial plasticizer dioctyl adipate have confirmed it s safety for living organisms [34–36]. ronmental safety.
- Can alkylbutoxyethyl adipates be used as PVC plasticizers?
- Earlier in work, alkylbutoxyethyl adipates were obtained, their characteristics, important for practical use as PVC plasticizers, were investigated . ... ... Expanding the range of biodegradable additives is a topical effective way to increase the biodegradation of PVC composites.
- Does industrial plasticizer Dioctyl adipate have a short biodegradation period?
- It is known that the industrial plasticizer dioctyl adipate is characterized by reduced toxicity and a short biodegradation period. The paper describes the synthesis of a number of new asymmetric esters based on adipic acid and ethoxylated butanol by azeotropic esterification. The receipt of the products was confirmed by IR spectra.
