ESBO is a heat stabilizer and secondary plasticizer used in PVC-P applications. It has food contact approval up to certain limits but there have been some environmental/political issues concerning the possible use of genetically modified soya bean oil in the manufacture of ESBO.

The plasticizer (DOP/ERBO) was compounded with PVC resin in a two-roll mill at temperature of 160 °C for 2 min. The sheets were compression molded at the operating temperature of 160 °C for 7 min.
