Both ATBC and the intermediate metabolite TBC undergo rapid metabolism in both human serum and rat liver homogenates. The half-lives are: 32 hours for ATBC, 4 hours for TBC and only seconds for n-butanol. It would be expected yielding the principal metabolites acetic acid, citric acid and butanol.

Acetyl Tributyl Citrate (ATBC) - Chemical Supplier
Acetyl Tributyl Citrate (ATBC) is used as a biodegradable plasticizer for PVC and cellulose derivates, and it is approved for food contact materials and can even be used as a food additive. ATBC is also used as an emollient for personal care/cosmetics products such as aerosol hair sprays and nail polishes.
- Where can I find information about acetyl tributyl citrate?
- Approved in the USA for direct food contact in food films. J & K SCIENTIFIC LTD. Acetyl tributyl citrate (CAS 77-90-7) information, including chemical properties, structure, melting point, boiling point, density, formula, molecular weight, uses, prices, suppliers, SDS and more, available at Chemicalbook.
- What are the metabolites of 14c-acetyl tributyl citrate?
- Both the absorption and metabolism of 14C-Acetyl tributyl Citrate proceeded rapidly, and the following metabolites were identified: acetyl citrate, monobutyl citrate, acetyl monobutyl citrate, dibutyl citrate, and acetyl dibutyl citrate. Membrane CIR ingredient: Acetyl Tributyl Citrate
- What is tributyl citrate (TBC)?
- Tributyl citrate (TBC), as one of the new generation of environmentally friendly plasticizers, is also a biodegradable plasticizer with good compatibility, low volatility, and high plasticizing efficiency. TBC can be used as a raw material for the production of another environmentally friendly plasticizer, acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC). 1.
- What is acetyl trityl citrate (ATBC)?
- IDENTIFICATION AND USE: Acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) is a colorless liquid. It is the most widely used phthalate substitute plasticizer. It is used in products such as food wrap, vinyl toys, and pharmaceutical excipients. It is also used as a flavor ingredient in non-alcoholic beverages.
- Is acetyl tributyl citrate a carcinogen?
- ECOTOXICITY STUDIES: For acetyl tributyl citrate, the 96-hr LC50 values for fish range from 38 to 60 mg/L, the 48-hr EC50 value for aquatic invertebrates is 7.8 mg/L and the 72-hr EC50 values for aquatic plants are 11.5 mg/L for biomass and 74.4mg/L for growth rate, respectively. No indication of carcinogenicity to humans (not listed by IARC).
- Is acetyl tributyl citrate biodegradable?
- AEROBIC: Acetyl tributyl citrate, present at an initial concentration of 30 mg/L, reached 82% of the theoretical BOD in 4 weeks with an activated sludge inoculum at 100 mg/L in the modified MITI test which classified the compound as readily biodegradable (1).
