HOUSTON, TEXAS, July 18, 2017 – BASF started the production of Palatinol DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate), a general purpose plasticizer, at its Pasadena, Texas facility, with a nameplate capacity of 60,000 metric tons per year.
Palatinol DOTP
Palatinol DOTP can be used in a broad range of applications as an alternative to general purpose ortho-phthalates, where good processing characteristics are needed and the finished product requires improved low temperature flexibility and low volatility.
BASF to produce Palatinol DOTP in North America
BASF will convert 2-PH (2-propylheptanol) production to 2-EH (2-ethylhexanol) to generate reliable raw material integration for Palatinol DOTP. BASF will continue to market DPHP and DINP in North America, importing both products from its global production network.
