Selection of Superplasticizers for High-Performance Concrete
The naphthalene superplasticizers are marketed with a solid content from 40 to 42 percent. The melamine superplasticizers are marketed for a solid content of 22 to 30 %. New melamine superplasticizers are said to have solid content of 40 percent. The experience show that the efficiency of the superplasticizers depends on the following parameters:
POLYSORB | Maltitol syrup | Roquette
POLYSORB 75/75 is a maltitol syrup used as a Chemistry Intermediate and is also used in the Construction Industry. In Chemistry Intermediate, it works as a reactive agent. Whereas in concrete / cement / mortar applications it acts as a plasticizer, also providing a slight set retarding effect.
Plasticizers: Types, Uses, Classification, Selection & Regulation
Still the world’s most widely used PVC plasticizer DINP, DIDP: High molecular weight ortho-phthalates Aliphatic dibasic acid Esters – These include chemicals such as glutarates, adipates, azelates and sebacates. They are made from aliphatic dibasic acids such as adipic acid and alcohols.
Use of Water Reducers, Retarders, and Superplasticizer
The use of WRA is defined as Type A in ASTM C 494. WRA affects mainly the fresh properties of concrete by reducing the amount of water used by 5% to 12% while maintaining a certain level of consistency, measured by the slump as prescribed in ASTM C 143-90. The use of WRA may accelerate or retard the initial setting time of concrete.
Effect of Plasticizing and Retarding Admixtures on the Properties
Commercially available polycarboxylate (PCE-RE) and lignosulfonate (LS-RE) based superplasticizers with retarding effect as well as traditional retarder on the basis of sodium gluconate (R-SG) were used in researches. The concrete mix designed was carried out according to DSTU B V.2.7-214:2009 [ 23 ].
