Widespread occurrence of phthalate and non-phthalate plasticizers
Besides phthalates, adipates, tributyl phosphate (TBP) and dibutyl sebacate (DBS), are used as plasticizers in synthetic polymers ( EU, 2008, LCSP, 2011 ). Adipates (especially, di (2-ethylhexyl)adipate; DEHA) and DBS are used in soft plastics, especially food wraps and films.
Dibutyl sebacate
Dibutyl sebacate (DBS) is an organic chemical, a dibutyl ester of sebacic acid. Its main use is as a plasticizer in production of plastics , namely cellulose acetate butyrate , cellulose acetate propionate , ethyl cellulose , polyvinyl butyral , polyvinyl chloride , polystyrene , and many synthetic rubbers (especially nitrile rubber and neoprene ) and other plastics.

Effect of plasticizer on the electric-field-induced adhesion
The plasticizers DOP and DBP connect PVC chains and allow only a limited rotation of PVC chain segments. Consequently, the number of free dipoles decreases . In contrast, for DEA and DBS plasticizers, the PVC chains are not restricted and the dipoles on the PVC chains are free to respond in the applied electric field.
