The results show that the proposed method provides enhanced accuracy, linear range, LOD, and LOQ, and is very effective for analyzing the target compounds in water samples. Under the optimized conditions, preconcentration factor of 149–279 and extraction efficiency of 31–59% have been obtained.

- Are DEHP and glucuronide conjugates a biomarker of plasticizer exposure in human urine?
- Our study aimed to develop a novel sensitive and selective method to simultaneously identify and quantify DEHP and 17 other plasticizer metabolites (free or glucuronide conjugates), which are specific biomarkers of DEHTP, TOTM, DINP, DINCH and DEHA exposure in human urine.
- Are alternative plasticizers safe in medical devices?
- This phthalate is known for its reprotoxic and endocrine disrupting effects. Its use in medical devices (MD) has been restricted and alternative plasticizers have been developed. Nevertheless, no published clinical studies exist concerning patient exposure to these alternative plasticizers during medical care.
- Can LC-MS detect plasticizer metabolites in human urine?
- This new LC-MS/MS sensitive method has been developed for the rapid and simultaneous detection and quantification of plasticizer metabolites in human urine. Except for DEHA, these metabolites are specific biomarkers of the exposure to DEHP-alternative plasticizers that are contained in MD.
