Performance evaluation of new plasticizers for stretch PVC
Plasticizers in flexible PVC must be closely associated with the amorphous part of the polymer at room temperature, and plasticizers must be fairly permanent. The plasticizer must act as a solvent for the crystalline part of the PVC at flexible PVC processing temperatures but not at lower temperatures.
Nontoxic bio-plasticizers for PVC as replacements
Another vegetable based plasticizer is epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO), a kind of renewable oil with viscosity 35 cPs; it has been long known as secondary plasticizer and a secondary stabilizer in PVC. ESBO is available with iodine value as low as 1 g l2/100 g, i.e. ≈ 0.04 mol double bonds in each molecule of ESBO.
Plasticizers > Epoxidized Oils (ESBO, ELO)
Vikoflex 9080 Epoxidized Vegetable Oil. Vikoflex 9080 Epoxidized Vegetable Oil by Cargill acts as a plasticizer, stabilizer and acid scavanger. It is based on epoxidized linseed fatty acid ester. It improves low temperature properties of flexible PVC.
ROLE OF DIFFERENT PLASTICIZERS IN PVC PRODUCTS - LinkedIn
An effective plasticizer molecule for PVC has two types of structural components – 1. Polar component, and 2. Non polar component. The polar component of the molecule must be able to bind...
Epoxidized rice bran oil (ERBO) as a plasticizer for poly
The plasticizer (DOP/ERBO) was compounded with PVC resin in a two-roll mill at temperature of 160 °C for 2 min. The sheets were compression molded at the operating temperature of 160 °C for 7 min. Similarly plasticizer (DOP/ESBO) was also compounded with PVC resin as shown in Table 2.
- What is epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO)?
- Epoxidized Soybean Oil (ESBO) is a light yellow, non-toxic liquid used as a plasticizer. Heat Resistance: ESBO enhances the durability of PVC products, ensuring they withstand high temperatures without compromising their integrity.
- What is Esbo used for?
- PVC Transparent Items: ESBO is commonly used in the production of clear tubing, sheets, and containers, providing transparency and flexibility without sacrificing safety. Food Packaging: ESBO’s non-toxic nature makes it suitable for use in food packaging materials, ensuring consumer safety and product freshness.
- Is Esbo safe?
- Food Packaging: ESBO’s non-toxic nature makes it suitable for use in food packaging materials, ensuring consumer safety and product freshness. Non-Toxic Products: From toys to medical devices, ESBO offers a safe and reliable solution for manufacturers looking to meet stringent regulatory standards.
