High performance flame-retardant organic–inorganic hybrid
In recent years, as a substitute for halogen flame retardants, DOPO and its derivatives have exhibited remarkable achievements for halogen-free flame-retarded epoxy resin. 6–10 However, the weak bond of phosphorus-containing groups that introduced into the epoxy matrix reduces the crosslinking density and consequently brings negative effects
A phosphorus-containing hyperbranched phthalocyanine flame
The flame retardant properties of epoxy thermosets were enhanced considerably with the incorporation of DOPO-CuPc. When the addition of DOPO-CuPc was 5 wt%, the LOI value increased to...
A DOPO-based phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant bio-based
In this work, a DOPO-based phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant bio-based epoxy resin from diphenolic acid had been developed. The phosphorus-nitrogen structure is grafted in the epoxy resin main chain, which is different from the direct addition type and co-curing agent type flame retardant system.
High-efficiency phosphorus/nitrogen-containing flame
A phosphorus/nitrogen containing compound was synthesized as a flame retardant for EP by grafting reaction using DOPO and BAPh. A series of epoxy composites containing the DOPO-BAPh additive was prepared using DDS as a curing agent. The results showed that the introduction of DOPO-BAPh accelerated the curing of EPs.
Hyperbranched Rigid Aromatic Phosphorus‐Containing Flame
The resulting poly- (DOPO-HQ/THPPO-terephthalate) (PDTT) is implemented as a flame retardant into an epoxy resin (EP) at a 10 wt% loading. The effects on EP are compared with those of the monomer DOPO-HQ and triphenylphosphine oxide (OPPh 3) as low molar mass flame retardants.
- What are reactive Dopo based flame retardants for epoxy resins?
- This review focuses on recent advances in reactive DOPO–based flame retardants for epoxy resins, including reactive monomers, curing agents and hybrid structures. There are also highlighted fire retardant mechanisms of the DOPO derivatives and thermal and mechanical features of the epoxy systems.
- Is Dopo a flame retardant?
- DOPO contains a reactive hydrogen bond which reacts easily with epoxy resins, aldehydes, acrylates, activated double bonds of benzoquinone, making it either a good flame retardant additive precursor or an integrative flame retardant . Hence, hydrogen phosphinates or phosphonates may be attached directly to an epoxy resin.
- Are epoxy resins flammable?
- Unfortunately, epoxy resins have the disadvantage of being highly flammable and thus require suitable modifications with reactive or non-reactive flame retardant additives. Recent literature have shown that the derivatives 9,10–dihydro–9–oxa–10–phosphaphenanthrene–10–oxide (DOPO) are the most researched flame retardants for epoxy resins.
- Are phosphorous oxidation states a flame retardant for epoxy resins?
- In conclusion, three kinds of DOPO-based derivatives with multiple phosphorous oxidation states were synthesized and applied as flame retardants for epoxy resins. FTIR and NMR spectra confirmed the successful synthesis of these DOPO-based derivatives.
- Which is the best flame retardant for epoxy resin?
- Among them, 9,10-dihydro-9-oxo-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) has become the most widely studied and most promising flame retardant in the field of flame retardant epoxy resin [31, 32].DOPO and its derivatives can be used as reactive and additive flame retardants in epoxy resins.
- What is dopamine modified Dopo da for flame retardant thermosetting epoxy resins?
- The flame retardant mechanism of flame retardant was analyzed. DOPO-DA promotes the curing process and improves the mechanical properties. In this work, we synthesized a 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) derivative flame retardant dopamine modified DOPO (DOPO-DA) for flame retardant thermosetting epoxy resins (EP).
