Dioctyl terephthalate = 96 6422-86-2 - Sigma-Aldrich
Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) is a plasticizer that can be prepared by alcoholysis of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with isooctyl alcohol. Application DOTP can form a composite blend with polyaniline (PANI)-ethyene dimethacrylate (EDMA), which can be used in the fabrication of conductive films.
Oxea Names German DOTP Production Partner / 60,000 mt/year
Dioctyl terephthalate is a phthalate-free plasticizer that meets highest environmental requirements. A direct replacement mainly for dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and diisononyl phthalate (DINP),...
Oxea aims to become major European supplier of DOTP plasticizer
German oxo chemicals producer Oxea GmbH reports that it has entered into cooperation with an un-named German manufacturing partner to produce the general-purpose, phthalate-alternative plasticizer dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) in Europe. As a result of the partnership, Oxea says it will initially offer 60 000 tonnes per year of DOTP by 2025.
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate
Bis (2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate commonly abbreviated DEHT (Dioctyl terephthalate or DOTP), is an organic compound with the formula C 6 H 4 (CO 2 C 8 H 17) 2. It is a non- phthalate plasticizer, being the diester of terephthalic acid and the branched-chain 2-ethylhexanol, which is referred to as octyl.
OXXYNOVA
CAS NO. 120-61-6 Dimethyl terephthalate, or DMT for short, is a precursor for plastics obtained from p-xylene, methanol and air under the influence of a catalyst. DMT is used as a starting substance for the production of linear, crystallisable polyesters that can be stretched when cold.
- Who makes Dioctyl terephthalate?
- The global chemical company Oxea aims to annually produce 60,000 metric tons of dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP), a general purpose non-ortho-phthalate plasticizer, in Europe by the second half of 2019. To that effect, Oxea has entered into a cooperation with Oxxynova, Steyerberg, Germany, a manufacturer of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT).
- What is DOTP (Dioctyl Terephthalate)?
- DOTP, Dioctyl Terephthalate (also abbreviated DEHT) is a PVC plasticizer. It is considered safer than other plasticizers due to its excellent toxicological profile and is one of the most important phthalate-free plasticizers in the market. It is the ester of terephthalic acid and 2-ethylhexanol.
- What is Dioctyl terephthalate?
- Dioctyl terephthalate is a phthalate-free plasticizer that meets highest environmental requirements. A direct replacement mainly for dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and diisononyl phthalate (DINP), DOTP is used in a wide range of applications such as construction, automotive, coatings, and flooring.
- Is DOTP a good replacement for phthalate plasticizers?
- DOTP meets the highest environmental requirements and is promoted as a direct replacement for phthalate plasticizers and, in particular, for dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and diisononyl phthalate (DINP), Oxea reports. It is used in a wide range of applications including construction, automotive, coatings and flooring.
- What is DOTP used for?
- It is used in a wide range of applications including construction, automotive, coatings and flooring. Through the cooperative arrangement with Oxxynova, Oxea will become the major supplier of DOTP in Europe by 2019, claims Max Grudda, the company's marketing manager for plasticizers.
- How is DOTP synthesized?
- At the new, dedicated production unit, DOTP will be synthesized via the transesterification process, which is superior to conventional esterification, according to Oxea. The company will supply key precursor 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) to Oxxynova and will also market the DOTP end product through its own sales channels.
