BASF begins production of Palatinol DOTP plasticizer at its
HOUSTON, TEXAS, July 18, 2017 – BASF started the production of Palatinol DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate), a general purpose plasticizer, at its Pasadena, Texas facility, with a nameplate capacity of 60,000 metric tons per year. The plant enables BASF to respond to the growing demand for non-ortho-phthalate plasticizers in North America, and strengthens its position as a reliable source for DOTP.

Health, Eco Concerns Give Non-Phthalate Plasticizers a Push
DOTP from Eastman has been available for several decades as Eastman 168, and the company claims it is the market-leading non-phthalate plasticizer for PVC, offering performance equal to or better than most non-phthalates. It offers good performance properties, optimal low-temperature flexibility, and non-migration properties.
DOTP Plasticizer for PVC-Processing - Extrusion
The official opening took place in May. DOTP is demand in the production of floor coverings, membranes, films, wallpaper and many other products, and from plasticized PVC. Accordingly, the types of processing can be different depending on the final product: extrusion, calendering, injection molding.
