Combining Renewable Eleostearic Acid and Eugenol
In this study, two kinds of sustainable plasticizers (eleostearic acid eugenol ester (EAEE) and epoxidized EAEE) were synthesized to plasticize PVC films using eleostearic acid and eugenol. Compared to EAEE, PVC plasticized with epoxidized EAEE showed more flexible and thermal stability.
Synthesis of novel plasticizer ester end-capped oligomeric
In this work, a novel high efficiency plasticizer, an ester-capped oligomeric lactic acid mixture (EOL), was successfully synthesized by a two-step esterification reaction, with L-lactic acid as the main raw material.
Synthesis of Tung-Oil-Based Triglycidyl Ester Plasticizer and
Waste Fatty Acid-Based Methyl Tetraglycol Ester Derived from Dimer Acid Manufacturing as an Efficient and Biodegradable Plasticizer for Poly(vinyl chloride). ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering 2025 , 9 (40) , 13573-13581.
Synthesis of Plasticizers Derived from Palm Oil and Their
Products obtained were characterized from their acid number, iodine number, ester number, density, and viscosity. Functional group analysis was also conducted by using FTIR (Fourier-Transformed Infra-Red) and 1 H-NMR (Proton-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectroscopy. These esters compound were used as secondary plasticizers in polyvinylchloride
Selected Fatty Acids Esters as Potential PHB-V
In this method in the first step, the fatty acid ester is dissolved in the Kaufmann solution. The solution is left for a known time in the dark. In the next step potassium iodide is added and the liberated free iodine is titrated with thiosulphate. The water content in esters was determined according to the Standard PN-ISO 760.
- What is an ester plasticizer?
- An ester plasticizer, in its simplest concept, is a high-boiling organic solvent that when added to an elastomeric polymer reduces stiffness and permits easier processing.1 For general performance applications, compounders require moderate performance in several areas without particular emphasis on any one.
- What is a general performance ester plasticizer?
- Some general performance ester plasticizers used in the marketplace today are DOA, DIDA, DIDP, DOP, DINP and other phthalates and adipates made from straight-chain alcohols of 7–11 carbons in length. Ester plasticizers are commonly used only for their as-molded, low-temperature contribution.
- Do fluorocarbon elastomers accept ester plasticizers?
- Fluorocarbon elastomers will accept a relatively wide range of ester plasticizers, but here, with both the high temperature post cure and application temperatures ranging to 232°C, they find use only at very low levels for processing. The selection of an ester plasticizer can often be confusing because of the large choice available.
- Are elastomers a plasticizer?
- Common esters and polymeric polyesters are both external and physical plasticizers. Physical plasticizers may have some weak attraction to the polymer, such as through hydrogen bonding or Van der Waals forces, but, as with external plasticizers, they do not chemically react with the elastomer.
- Can polymeric esters enhance a high-performance elastomer?
- One example of how polymeric esters can enhance a high-performance elastomer is depicted in Figure 3. High-saturated nitrile is used in many high-heat applications. The use of 8-10 trimellitate is well documented as the plasticizer of choice for HNBR.
- How to choose a high-performance ester plasticizer?
- The rubber compounder must evaluate ester plasticizers for compatibility, processability, permanence and performance properties. The study of these properties by the rubber compounder will contribute to the selection of a high-performance ester plasticizer. 1.
