Study of the migration of PVC plasticizers - ScienceDirect
The PVC resin was dispersed into the plasticizer and the thermal stabilizer in a high-speed mixer in the following proportions: 55.3% of PVC, 41.4% of plasticizer and 3.3% of the thermal stabilizer; mixing operation was carried out under vacuum in order to avoid the presence of air bubbles in the final product.
Methods for determination of plasticizer migration
In this review, multiple methodologies developed over the last decade for determining plasticizer migration from PVC coating are compiled, with their operational principles, merits, and limitations being taken into consideration along with specific apparatus required for each.
Extraction and migration of plasticizers of polyvinyl
The extraction is mainly determined by the solubility of plasticizer in the medium, and migration is closely related to the compatibility between plasticizer and PVC. The diffusion of plasticizers in PVC can be carried out in the medium that will not infiltrate into the polymer or in the medium infiltrating the polymer.
Migration of phthalate and non‐phthalate plasticizers out
The same tendency was observed for diffusion coefficients and for the activation energies of migration. The diffusion coefficients were found to be around 3.5 × 10 18 –2.1 × 10 17 m 2 /sec for the studied plasticizers in PVC at 50°C and around 4.0 × 10 15 –9.9 × 10 14 m 2 /sec at 160°C. The activation energies for 85–160
Plasticizer Migration - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Plasticizer migration from one material to another causes problems with their performance. 1, 4 Figure 10.65 shows that plasticizer migration increases with the increase in the plasticizer concentration in PVC. The migration process follows Fickian diffusion and can be approximated from the following equation:
- Which countries manufacture poly vinyl chloride phthalate based plasticizers?
- Korea, India, Southeast Asian countries, Russia, USA, etc Based on the price competitiveness of Phthalic Anhydride (PA), the base raw material for Plasticizers, OCI produces major Poly Vinyl Chloride phthalate-based Plasticizers (DINP, TINIM, and DINA).
- Where are plasticizers made?
- It is produced by the ester reaction between alcohol such as Octanol (2-EH), INA, etc., and acids such as PA, TPA, TMA, etc. Depending on the base material, different grades of plasticizers are produced. Korea, India, Southeast Asian countries, Russia, USA, etc
- What is OCI plasticizer?
- OCI produces plasticizers that improve the flexibility and low-temperature resistance of PVC products. Plasticizers improve the flexibility, low-temperature resistance, and processability of PVC products. They are raw materials to produce wire compounds, wallpaper, flooring, PVC film, automotive sealant (sealer), synthetic leather, etc.
- Why should you use polymertrack in Korea?
- For users in Korea, PolymerTrack also supplies weekly bulletins to keep those interested in PVC reliably informed of the latest industry news, so that our subscribers are always in a position to move on the latest market trends and stay ahead of the curve.
- What are plasticizers used for?
- Plasticizers are additives to PVC and PSR resins to improve the flexibility of the plastics. They are mainly used in products and compounds that require flexibility. Contacts If you have any questions regarding our products and services, please e-mail us.
- What are the different types of plasticizers?
- Plasticizers are categorized as phthalate-based, trimellitate-based, phosphoric acid-based and epoxy-based depending on the base material. It is produced by the ester reaction between alcohol such as Octanol (2-EH), INA, etc., and acids such as PA, TPA, TMA, etc. Depending on the base material, different grades of plasticizers are produced.
