What Plasticizers Do & How They Affect Properties | Osborne
Approximately 90% of all plasticizers are used in polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. By volume, after Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP), PVC is the third largest polymer used in products. PVC is one of the most durable materials in the world because of plasticizers added to it, lasting up to 50 years without damage.
Plasticizers: Types, Uses, Classification, Selection & Regulation
Most common plasticiser chemistries include citrates, benzoates, ortho-phthalates, terephthalates, adipates, azelates, sebacates, and trimellitates. Plasticizers are the most common additives used in the plastics industry. But, selecting the right plasticizer for an application has always been a daunting task.
Polyethylene (PE) - Properties, Uses & Application
It is often abbreviated as PE. The chemical formula of PE is (C 2 H 4) n. It is lightweight, durable, and one of the most commonly produced plastic. Used for frozen food bags, bottles, cereal liners, yogurt containers, etc. Look around you, all plastics with recycling codes 2 and 4 are made of PE.
A QSPR for the plasticization efficiency of polyvinylchloride
A range of PVC plasticizers namely—aromatic esters (phthalate, terephthalate, benzoate, trimellitate), aliphatic esters (adipate, sebacate, azelate), citrates and a phosphate have been correlated in this study. We have presented a three parameter correlation for low temperature flex point, Tf, of 25 plasticized polyvinylchloride resins.
