Synthesis and properties of castor oil based plasticizers
The volatility stability of all plasticizers was investigated, and the results are shown in Fig. 4. PVC-ECO shows the highest volatility, which proved that the plasticizer ECO exhibited worst compatibility towards PVC owing to the presence of the hydroxyl group.
Properties Investigation of Epoxidized Sunflower Oil as
The comparison of ESO to ESBO at the optimum plasticizer content (20 wt%) shows that ESBO presents best elongation at break because of its lower molecular and its good compatibility with PLA, while ESO 6.5 % exhibits better elongation at break than ESO 5.5 %. The increasing in films elongation can be explained by the fact that plasticizers
Spectroscopic and mechanical properties of PVC
The plasticizers are the bis (2-ethylhexyl) (DEHP) transparent liquid (Sigma-Aldrich), and the epoxidized sunflower oil (ESO) with an oxyrane oxygen rate of O.O = 6.2%, prepared in our laboratory. In the preparation we have also added Ca/Zn (1/1) for thermal stabilization and stearic acid lubrication.
"Green" films from renewable resources: properties
Results showed that ESO was an effective plasticizer that outstripped conventional plasticizers, i.e. dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and triethyl citrate (TEC) in producing high-quality films. Especially, at plasticizer concentrations of 15-25%, ESO-EC films had preferable mechanical properties and better thermal stability, as well as non-flammability.
Plasticizers: Types, Uses, Classification, Selection & Regulation
A primary plasticizer enhances elongation, softness and flexibility of polymer. They are highly compatible with polymers and can be added in large quantities. For example: up to 50% of vinyl gloves are made up of plasticizers, which make the PVC flexible and soft enough to wear.
