A highly stable bio-based plasticizer constructed from renewable acids
The plasticizing properties of LLMEE in PVC were tested and compared to the commercial plasticizers acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) and dioctyl phthalate (DOP). The results of optical performance showed that, compared to ATBC and DOP, PVC plasticized by 50 phr LLMEE had both high transparency and UV resistance.
Finely tuned polyamide structure with green plasticizers to construct
Herein, two representative citrate plasticizers, acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) and tributyl citrate (TBC), were introduced in the organic phase to perform interfacial polymerization. We choose to introduce ATBC/TBC in the organic phase for two reasons. First, the solubility of ATBC/TBC in the organic phase is better than that in the aqueous phase.
Synthesis of novel plasticizer ester end-capped oligomeric lactic acid
The plasticizing performance of EOLs in PVC was tested and compared with those of commercial environmental plasticizers acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) and di-2-ethylhexyl terephthalate (DOTP).
Eco-friendly plasticized poly(vinyl chloride)–acetyl tributyl citrate
Abstract We fabricated an eco-friendly, electroactive, reconfigurable, and varifocal PVC–ATBC (ePVC) gel lens. The ePVC gel lens, composed of PVC and environmentally-benign ATBC plasticizer, was reconfigured in response to applied voltage.

- What is acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC)?
- Quality guaranteed, find your speciality chemicals with ease. Acetyl Tributyl Citrate (ATBC) is used as a biodegradable plasticizer for PVC and cellulose derivates, and it is approved for food contact materials and can even be used as a food additive.
- Why is tributyl citrate a new non-toxic plasticizer?
- Tributyl citrate (TBC) is a new non-toxic plasticizer, because it has good compatibility, high plasticizing efficiency, non-toxic and less volatile, weather resistance and other characteristics of broad interest, it is used as the preferred alternative green products in place of phthalic dimethyl esters.
- What is acetyl tributyl citrate?
- Acetyl tributyl citrate replaces toxic additives for clean 2-tons synthesis of WPU. Acetyl tributyl citrate is an eco-friendly and highly efficient additive in WPU. 3% acetyl tributyl citrate results in high molecular mass and high-performance WPU. Acetyl tributyl citrate-based WPU dispersion and film have ultralow VOC emissions.
- Is citrate a bio-based plasticizer?
- Citrate is a chemically modified product of citric acid and it is the most commonly used bio-based plasticizers in household products, including food packing, medical products, toys, pens and other cosmetics [9,10].
- Can acetyl triethyl citrate improve tensile strength and elongation?
- Sawada et al. found that acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC), acetyl triethyl citrate (ATEC) and triethyl citrate (TEC) and found that ATBC, ATEC and TEC could greatly improve the tensile strength and elongation at break of poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composite .
- What is the role of ATBC in polymerization?
- ATBC plays six roles as hydrophilic chain extender's medium, emulsifier, and viscosity thinner in the polymerization stage, plasticizer, water- and heat-resisting additives in the WPU films, which is responsible for the performance improvement.
