Sustainable Catalytic Process for Synthesis of Triethyl
This study opens new avenues of research demonstrating principles of green chemistry such as easy separable and reusable catalyst, non-toxic product, bio-renewable synthetic route, milder...
Synthesis of tributyl citrate using acid ionic liquid as
Synthesis of tributyl citrate (TBC) has been studied by using acid functionalized ionic liquid as catalyst. The results indicated that acidic ionic liquids show good catalytic and reusable performance. Under the optimum conditions, using 1-methyl-3- (3-sulfopropyl)-imidazolium hydrogen sulfate as catalyst, the conversion of citric acid was 97%.
The effect of citrate plasticizers on the properties
Nitrocellulose granules containing the proposed new eco-friendly inert plasticizers, substitutes for phthalate derivatives, such as acetyl triethyl nitrate (ATEC) and tributyl citrate (TBC) were obtained. The single-base propellants were obtained using safe granulation process (water method).
Synthesis of Tributyl Citrate Using Solid Acid as a Catalyst
Tributyl citrate (TCB) is considered as a new environment-friendly plasticizer due to its non-toxic, tasteless, high thermal stability and good plasticizing effect, which is widely used in...

- Why is tributyl citrate a new non-toxic plasticizer?
- Tributyl citrate (TBC) is a new non-toxic plasticizer, because it has good compatibility, high plasticizing efficiency, non-toxic and less volatile, weather resistance and other characteristics of broad interest, it is used as the preferred alternative green products in place of phthalic dimethyl esters.
- How do you store tributyl citrate (TBC)?
- 300 °C (lit.) 1.043 g/mL at 20 °C (lit.) storage temp. Store below +30°C. Miscible with acetone, ethanol, and vegetable oil; practically insoluble in water. Tributyl citrate (TBC) is a good environmental plasticizers, lubricants. At room temperature, it is non-toxic, it has fruit flavor, it is colorless oily liquid.
- Is catalytic synthesis of non-toxic/eco-friendly tributyl citrate (TBC) plasticizer?
- The catalytic synthesis of non-toxic/eco-friendly tributyl citrate (TBC) plasticizer by esterification of renewable citric acid (CA) with butanol would be completely sustainable route. In this context, catalytic performance of parent ultra stable Y (USY) and phosphonated USY catalysts were investigated for TBC synthesis.
- What is tributyl citrate used for?
- This product is innocuous plasticizer, it can be used for granulation of non-toxic PVC, it can be used for packaging materials in food production, soft toys for children, medical products, the plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymers, cellulose resin. When absolutely pure, tributyl citrate has virtually no odor.
- Is tributyl citrate soluble in water?
- Miscible with acetone, ethanol, and vegetable oil; practically insoluble in water. Tributyl citrate (TBC) is a good environmental plasticizers, lubricants. At room temperature, it is non-toxic, it has fruit flavor, it is colorless oily liquid. Boiling point is 170℃ (133.3Pa), flash point (open cup) is 185℃. It is soluble in most organic solvents.
