BASF begins production of Palatinol DOTP plasticizer at its
HOUSTON, TEXAS, July 18, 2017 – BASF started the production of Palatinol DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate), a general purpose plasticizer, at its Pasadena, Texas facility, with a nameplate capacity of 60,000 metric tons per year. The plant enables BASF to respond to the growing demand for non-ortho-phthalate plasticizers in North America, and strengthens its position as a reliable source for DOTP.
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate
Bis (2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate commonly abbreviated DEHT (Dioctyl terephthalate or DOTP), is an organic compound with the formula C 6 H 4 (CO 2 C 8 H 17) 2. It is a non- phthalate plasticizer, being the diester of terephthalic acid and the branched-chain 2-ethylhexanol, which is referred to as octyl.
Performance of dioctyl terephthalate concrete - ScienceDirect
Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) obtained from waste PET is an oily substance and is compatible with concrete raw materials, which can make it an attractive material to be used as building materials. For this reason, the performance of DOTP-reinforced concrete is important for determining the direction of waste PET disposal.
Alcoholysis of polyethylene terephthalate to produce dioctyl
Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) is a new kind of green and non-toxic plasticizer. The traditional process to prepare DOTP is costly and complicated, thus it is very necessary to find an efficient and environmentally-friendly way to obtain DOTP. In this study, we prepared DOTP from the alcoholysis of polyethylen
Dioctyl Terephthalate - KH Chemicals
Dioctyl Terephthalate Di octyl terephthalate (DOTP) is a new phthalate plasticiser, being the diester of terephthalic acid and the branched-chain 2-ethylhexanol. This colourless viscous liquid used for softening PVC plastics is known for its safer phthalate-free chemistry. It possesses very good plasticizing properties and may be used as a direct replacement for low molecular weight
- What is di-octyl terephthalate (DOTP)?
- Di-Octyl Terephthalate (DOTP) is a versatile and environmentally friendly plasticizer widely used in various industries. Its primary function is to enhance the flexibility, durability, and workability of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products while offering several advantages over traditional phthalate-based plasticizers.
- Is Dioctyl terephthalate a plasticizer?
- DOTP is a terephthalate plasticizer and has a very different structure from the orthophthalate esters such as dioctyl phthalate, diisodecyl phthalate, diisononyl phthalate, as can be seen in their structural formulas (Fig. 11.1 ). Figure 11.1. Dioctyl terephthalate structural chemical formula ( Liu et al., 2013 ).
- What is a DOTP plasticizer?
- Its primary function is to enhance the flexibility, durability, and workability of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products while offering several advantages over traditional phthalate-based plasticizers. DOTP is known for its excellent thermal stability, low volatility, and high plasticizing efficiency.
- What is DOTP used for?
- DOTP is known for its excellent thermal stability, low volatility, and high plasticizing efficiency, making it ideal for applications requiring stringent safety and regulatory compliance.DOTP finds extensive use in the production of flexible PVC products, including medical devices, toys, food packaging, and automotive interiors.
- What is the difference between PET and DOTP?
- When the thermal conductivity values of PET and DOTP are compared, the decrease of 33.11% with 10% DOTP addition, compared to the control concrete, is only 3.97% for 10% PET addition ( Şimşek et al., 2018). However, DOTP has a serious success in achieving high electrical resistance.
