DOP Plasticizer | Eastman
Product description. Eastman DOP Plasticizer (Bis (2-Ethylhexyl) Phthalate) is a light colored, low volatility, odorless liquid. It is the most widely used all-purpose plasticizer offered by Eastman for use with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins. It is insoluble in water and has a viscosity of 56 cP at 25°C.
A Strategy for Nonmigrating Highly Plasticized PVC
PVC was from Sumitomo Chemical (Japan), and 4-hydroxyphthalic acid with 98% purity % was from Wuxi Discovery Medical Technology. Thionyl chloride (SOCl 2) was analytical grade from Tianjin...
Performance assessment of polyvinyl chloride films plasticized with
1. Introduction. Plasticizers are the compound, which reduce brittleness and add plasticity and flexibility to a synthetic resin. Conventionally, phthalates, citrates, adipates, and carboxylates are the most frequently utilized as plasticizers for polymers like polyvinyl chloride (PVC)owing to their excellent properties and low cost [1].
Mechanical properties evaluation of PVC/plasticizers and PVC
Fig. 4, Fig. 5, Fig. 6 showed that Young's modulus for PVC/DOP, PVC/DIDP and PVC/TPU blends decreased with the second component content. As expected, the addition of low-molecular-weight plasticizer to a PVC formulation decreases the modulus of the PVC product. However, differences were noted between DOP and DIDP blend behaviour.
Mechanical and barrier properties of polyvinyl chloride plasticized
The tensile strength, elongation at break, tensile modulus and impact strength values of PVC/EC films were higher in comparison to PVC/DOP and PVC/ESBO films at a fixed plasticizer loading of 40 wt.%.
- What is nonmigrating highly plasticized PVC?
- Nonmigrating highly plasticized PVC was prepared based on a new compound that acts as a plasticizer that was derived from di (2-ethylhexyl) 4-hydrophthalate and chlorinated paraffin-52. The as-prepared PVC has a plasticizing efficiency as high as DOP and its migration is totally suppressed.
- Why is plasticizer important?
- Plasticizer is not only a processing aid but also an important component to determine the performance and application of PVC. Therefore, plasticizers are the most important commercial application of PVC. However, plasticizers can leach out of flexible PVC, changing the performance of PVC with age and contaminating the environment.
- How does cp52 affect plasticization efficiency?
- With higher DOP-O-CP52 levels in PVC, CP52 in DOP-O-CP52 will form microclusters owing to their lower compatibility with PVC, to retard the movement of DOP-O-CP52 in PVC, resulting in a decline in plasticizing efficiency. Figure 6 shown the extraction of plasticized PVCs.
- How to choose a plasticizer for PVC?
- Using external plasticizers, it is very convenient to select from a variety of plasticizers depending on the desired properties and processability of PVC. Plasticizer is not only a processing aid but also an important component to determine the performance and application of PVC.
- How did Navarro et al 35 replace chlorine on PVC backbone?
- Navarro et al. 35 replaced the chlorine on the PVC backbone via nucleophilic substitution of thiol groups attached to the benzene ring of di (2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (also known as dioctyl phthalate, DOP, the most common plasticizer), to give totally nonleachable PVC.
- Are phthalate plasticizers covalently bound to PVC?
