Cloud point tests determine polarity and aromaticity by heating the tackifier in two solvents and recording the temperature at which the resin begins to form a separate phase. In such tests, low temperature values indicate high levels of polarity and aromaticity, and tackifiers should be used with polymers demonstrating similar properties.
