Triacetin as a Secondary PVC Plasticizer | SpringerLink
In this study, a glycerol derivative plasticizer (triacetin—TAG) was tested as a secondary plasticizer for PVC. TAG was added to PVC formulations from 10 up to 20 phr. The increase of the plasticizer content had a great influence on the properties of PVC samples.
Effectiveness of triacetin and triethyl citrate as
It was found that, at a fixed amount of plasticizer (10%), TRI caused reduction of glass transition temperature (Tg) and melt temperature (Tm) in both PVA with the largest reduction in 88% hydrolysed PVA while TEC showed insignificant changes of Tg and slight reduction of Tm suggesting higher effectiveness of plasticization in 88% hydrolysed PVA

The choice of plasticizers depends on the demand placed on the finished product. These can include greater softness, elasticity, adhesion, flame retardant properties or resistance to chemicals, weathering and migration. Effect of plasticizer content on the MFI of TAG/PVC
The triacetin (TA), generally known as glycerol triacetate (C 9 H 14 O 6 ), is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid having a high boiling point of 260 C. Triacetin has a wide spectrum of...

formulation, blends of Eastman Triacetin with our other plasticizers mentioned can achieve the desired balance of viscosity and T g suppression. Other applications Eastman Triacetin is used as a highly effective non-phthalate plasticizer for cellulosic resins and is compatible in all proportions with cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, and ethyl
