A new class of acrylic polyols was synthesized from epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) and free-radically polymerized via UV irradiation to form pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs). ESO first was partially acrylated, then remaining epoxy groups were dihydroxylated to make acrylic polyols.
Green plasticizers derived from epoxidized soybean oil
Four novel plasticizers based on epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) were prepared through integration of epoxidation catalyzed by α-Al2O3·H2O and ring-opening reaction with H2SO4 as a catalyst. α
Epoxidized soybean oil cured with tannic acid for fully bio
The construction of fully bio-based epoxy resins (EP) has been of particular interest in both academia and industrial circles for years; among these, epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) derived thermosets have received the most attention, but they usually exhibit poor performance due to their flexible fatty chains. Herein
Plas-Chek Epoxidized Soybean Oil & Lankroflex | Valtris
Lankroflex & Plas-Chek epoxidized soybean oil (ESO), Lankroflex epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) and Lankroflex ED6 are secondary heat stabilizers that are used in a wide variety of flexible PVC formulations. ESO and ED6 are efficient secondary plasticizers which can be used to partially replace general purpose plasticizers.

- What is epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO)?
- Except where otherwise noted, data are given for materials in their standard state (at 25 °C [77 °F], 100 kPa). ?
- ) Epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) is a collection of organic compounds obtained from the epoxidation of soybean oil. It is used as a plasticizer and stabilizer in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics. ESBO is a yellowish viscous liquid.
- What is epoxidized Linolein (Esbo)?
- ESBO is a yellowish viscous liquid. Epoxidized linolein, a major component of ESBO. ESBO is manufactured from soybean oil through the process of epoxidation. Polyunsaturated vegetable oils are widely used as precursors to epoxidized oil products because they have high numbers of carbon-carbon double bonds available for epoxidation.
- Is ESO a non-toxic plasticizer?
- Among them, ESO, one of green non-toxic plasticizers recognized by FDA, has received much attention during the past several decades . Due to the worldwide availability and relatively low prices of soybean oil, chemical plants that produce ESO are spring up all over the world.
- How is epoxidation of ESO made?
- Moreover, ester bonds in the ester plasticizers improved the plasticizing efficiency . In the epoxidation process, ESO is synthesized by reacting soybean oil with peracids generated in situ. Generally, sulfuric acid is added into the reaction mixture to accelerate the peroxidation reaction .
- Why are plasticizers based on ESO so popular?
- Due to the worldwide availability and relatively low prices of soybean oil, chemical plants that produce ESO are spring up all over the world. Meanwhile, novel plasticizers based on ESO have been developed in the past several years .
- What are green non-toxic plasticizers?
- With increasing of the degree of national environmental policy and export bans of Europe and America, more and more green non-toxic plasticizers are developed and applied in the PVC. Among them, ESO, one of green non-toxic plasticizers recognized by FDA, has received much attention during the past several decades .
