Bioplasticizer deal with Lanxess Shortly after announcing the deal with NatureWorks, global engineering polymer company, Lanxess, announced that it would invest $10 million in BioAmber. The two companies have developed phthalate-free plasticizers, with market entry expected later this year.
BioAmber, Lanxess partner to develop biobased plasticizers
According to Lanxess, the global market for phthalate-free plasticizers is currently estimated at 1.3 billion ($1.8 billion U.S.) with an annual growth rate of approximately 7 percent. As a result of legal initiatives, demand for phthalate-free plasticizers is rapidly growing in markets such as North America, Western Europe and Japan.
