MIGRATION AND LEACHING OF PLASTICIZER FROM PLASTICIZED POLY(L-LACTIDE
Thermally induced migration of tributylacetyl citrate (TBAC) from plasticized poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and plasticized PLLA/olive stone flour (OSF) composites were investigated. Isothermal heating was conducted at 120°C and 150°C in a vented oven. Change of thermal properties was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
Biobased additive plasticizing Polylactic acid (PLA) - SciELO
Migration of TEC and ATBC results in cracks and changed color of material. We have concluded that the higher molecular weight of citrate in the studied exhibited a greater plasticizing effect to the PLA. Polylactic acid (PLA); plasticizer; triethyl citrate; acetyl tributyl citrate 1 Introduction
Plasticizer Migration - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
The plasticizer migration rate from PVC to polyethylene decreased when plasticizer polarity increased. For example, DOS is better absorbed by polyethylene than DOP or TCP. Migration rate of plasticizer increases when interaction between polymer and plasticizer decreases.
Methods for determination of plasticizer migration from polyvinyl
Plasticizer migration is responsible for premature coating failure in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) synthetic materials that continue to benefit our daily life as a reliable and cost-efficient simulant of genuine leather. In this context, the establishment of standard assays that measure the migration rate of plasticizers under varying scenarios plays a pivotal role in comparing durability of those
Study on ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 and [hmim]PF6 as plasticizer
The migration of plasticizers from plasticized PVC membranes to solvents was studied by HPLC analysis. The results showed that long time and high temperature could accelerate leaching and migration of plasticizers. Migration amount also increased under strong acidic-alkaline or alcohol conditions significantly.
- What happens if a plasticizer migrates?
- Serious migration may result in substantial loss of plasticizer with resultant stiffening of the PVC. An example of plasticizer migration is softening of nitrocellulose or acrylic lacquer following prolonged contact with plasticized PVC.
- Do plasticizers migrate from plasticized PVC to other polymers?
- Plasticizers may migrate from plasticized PVC by contact to other polymeric substances if the resistance at the interface is low and if the plasticizer is compatible with the second polymer. Mobility, ease of diffusion, efficiency of the plasticizer, and temperature help determine the magnitude of the effects.
- Do plasticisers migrate from polymers to a gas phase?
- This paper addresses the kinetics and predictions of plasticiser migration from polymers to a surrounding gas phase, an important issue for plastic and rubber products exposed to high service temperature conditions and during accelerated ageing and testing.
- How is plasticizer migration determined?
- A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of plasticizer migration. Chemical structure is the prominent determinant for the migration of plasticizers. Plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most commonly used material in the manufacture of artificial leather because of its flexibility, high durability and low cost.
- What is an example of plasticizer migration?
- An example of plasticizer migration is softening of nitrocellulose or acrylic lacquer following prolonged contact with plasticized PVC. In plasticized PVC film used for tape application, plasticizer migration to the adhesive layer can cause softening and loss of adhesion. 2017, Handbook of Plasticizers (Third Edition) GEORGE WYPYCH, ...
- Does flexible PVC reduce plasticizer leaching?
- In this study, the plasticizer migration from flexible PVC in contact with rigid PVC sheets was investigated. Various formulations of flexible PVC were compared, highlighting reduced plasticizer leaching when pPVC was chemically crosslinked or when the monomeric plasticizer, DEHP, was replaced with the polymeric plasticizer, PBA.
