In previous research, a polylactic chitin starch composite was prepared without the use of a solvent to enhance the miscibility. In this study, a polylactic acid (PLA) chitin starch composite was produced with chloroform as a plasticizer in the ratio 1:10. The blending of chitin and starch with PLA ranges from 2% to 8%. Release Enhancement by Plasticizer Inclusion for Amorphous
The goal of this study was to evaluate diverse plasticizers, including glycerol and citrate derivatives, as additives to increase the drug loading where good drug release could be achieved from copovidone (PVPVA)-based dispersions, focusing on high glass transition (T g) drugs, atazanavir (ATZ) and ledipasvir (LED).
Release Enhancement by Plasticizer Inclusion for Amorphous
The presence of a plasticizer at 5% w/w for ATZ and 10% w/w for LED ASDs, led to improved drug release. For ATZ ASDs, in the absence of plasticizer, release was very poor at drug loadings of 10% w/w and above. Good release was obtained for plasticized ASDs up to a drug loading of 25%. The corresponding improvement for LED was from 5 to 20% DL.
Enhancements in the Mechanical Stretchability and
ConspectusIntrinsically conducting polymers can have important application in flexible electronic devices and systems owing to their high mechanical flexibility. Among them, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) is particularly important, because it can be dispersed in water or polar organic solvents while most of conducting polymers are intractable and insoluble
- Can Plasticizers improve the transparency of plasticized PLA films?
- Pasha et al. investigated plasticized PLA films with different plasticizer additions, including ethyl triacetate (TA) and PEG. The results demonstrated that plasticizer incorporation improved the transparency of the films while reducing light transmission compared to pure PLA.
- Is ca a plasticizer for PLA?
- Their findings revealed that CA acted as a plasticizer for PLA, enhancing oxygen permeability across the PLA/CA film. The plasticized PLA film exhibited favorable barrier properties, releasing only simulants commonly found in fatty foods.
- Does plasticizer incorporation reduce light transmission?
- The results demonstrated that plasticizer incorporation improved the transparency of the films while reducing light transmission compared to pure PLA. PLA-PEG films exhibited lower transmission in the visible region (660 nm) than PLA-TA films, with both plasticized films showing enhanced thermal stability.
- Do Plasticizers improve tensile strength and elongation of PLA films?
- The mechanical properties of the PLA film were significantly improved by the plasticizers, with the tensile strength and elongation at break of PLA-7% GT increasing from 0.44 MPa to 1.32 % to 1.08 MPa and 12.53 %. Moreover, the presence of these plasticizers markedly increased the enzymatic degradation rate of PLA films.
- Which type of plasticizer has increased its market share?
- razel 2004).Another type of plasticizers that has increased its market share is terephthalic acid esters. Chem-ically, the only difference between them and orthophthalates (“traditional phtha
- What is the current state of bio-based plasticizers in PLA applications?
- In summary, the current state of bio-based plasticizers in PLA applications reflects rapid development and significant growth prospects. Future research should focus on bio-based plasticizers with synergistic effects such as plasticizing, toughening, antimicrobial, and anti-migration properties.
