Polylactic acid/chitin nanocrystal (PLA/ChNC) nanocomposites with triethyl citrate (TEC) at varied concentrations (2.5, 5.0, and 7.5 wt %) were prepared using liquid-assisted extrusion. The goal was to find the minimum amount of the TEC plasticizer needed to enhance the ChNC dispersion.

Technical Information
Acetyltributyl citrate (ATBC)** Triethyl citrate (TEC)* Dibutyl sebacate (DBS)** Suitable but without history of use in human oral dosage forms: tributyl citrate (TBC) and acetyltriethyl citrate (ATEC)* * When using TEC or ATEC it is important that film coating dispersions are freshly prepared prior to use.
Effectiveness of triacetin and triethyl citrate as plasticizer
The main objective of this work was to investigate the applicability of two natural based plasticizers (triacetin (TRI) and triethyl citrate (TEC)) in two polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with similar molecular weight but different hydrolysis degree (88% and 99%).
